Stalemate Spectacle
A very short but smart Slate article gets it right today.  What some would accurately call a stalemate, performed spectacularly in the news, is best understood as a sign of progress, a necessary prerequisite for achieving an agreement, first on the 'fiscal cliff,' then riding that wave, on immigration and the tax code.
