Lost Liberty
Much of the coverage of the president's state of the union address framed his analysis as abandoning bipartisanship.  AP in particular emphasized that frame, which means it appeared in just about every paper in the nation. 

I disagree.

The president made his case.  Making an argument is the first step before the competing perspectives sit down and hammer out something both sides can live with.  Making a persuasive, data-base, argument is not only not abandoning bipartisanship, it is the precondition for it.

Time to re-read JS Mill's On Liberty and remind ourselves why we value liberty and how to live free in a democratic society.
